Skiing at Luchon-Superbagnères: access, the resort and where to stay

Superbagnères, the "balcony of the Pyrenees", rises to 2125m and is reached in 8 minutes by cable car from the centre of Luchon. The smart move: stay in town and head up to ski each morning.

In brief: the Luchon-Superbagnères ski area spans 1465 to 2125m in altitude with 28 pistes across three sectors, reachable directly from the town centre by the Crémaillère Express cable car in 8 minutes.

The ski area at a glance

  • Altitude: 1465m to 2125m (the "balcony of the Pyrenees").
  • 28 pistes: 15% green, 45% blue, 21% red, 18% black — suited to all levels, from beginners to experts.
  • Three sectors: Téchous, Lac and Céciré.
  • Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, sledging and snowshoeing, with a stunning view over the valley.

How do I get to the slopes?

It's one of Luchon's great assets: the new 10-seat Crémaillère Express cable car (opened December 2023) links the town centre to the slopes in just 8 minutes. No need for a car or a mountain drive every morning: you head off to ski on foot from your apartment.

Why stay in Luchon rather than up the mountain?

Staying in town means enjoying the best of both worlds: the slopes by day, and the atmosphere of a real spa town by evening — shops, restaurants, the casino, and above all the spa for an après-ski wellness session. Our furnished apartments are a few minutes' walk from the cable car.
